Stotra Yagyas: “on-demand yagyas”
Stotra Yagyas
Ancient Knowledge, New Experiences
(The current list of available Stotra Yagyas are at the bottom of this page located here.)
As our yagya co-op has grown, it’s always been our intention to uncover additional aspects of traditional Vedic knowledge to support and deepen spiritual experiences in our community. We are excited to announce the availability of Stotra Yagyas.
We worked closely with Pandit Jaikrishna, Jyotishi and Vedic scholar, and Pandit Bhaskar Kumar, the Director at our ashram in India, to select and record the most important Stotra Yagyas. The first selection of these stotra yagyas are now available to download as audio files so you can listen to them on your preferred device and at your convenience, on-demand. We’ve worked hard to make sure the dakshina is affordable.
What are Stotra Yagyas?
Stotra Yagyas are specific, structured chants in Sanskrit that originate in the earliest layers of Vedic literature—the Vedas—as well as later Sanskrit literature. They are recited, or chanted, to enliven particular aspects of natural law – the Vedic devata and support the experience of cosmological principles, while generating specific influences and effects.

These short yagyas are traditionally performed to praise/enliven (stuti) and invoke specific Vedic devata, through sound, meter, precise pronunciation and traditional Vedic procedures. Their efficacy depends on their exact phonetics and cadence. They represent a precise science of vibration/Vedic frequencies, whose vibrations have specific effects on different elements of mind, body, evolution, the process of creation, and the environment.
Stotra Yagyas have been preserved through oral transmission and generational instruction with precise attention to pronunciations, cadence and chanting traditions. As always, our pandits carefully adhered to the correct, precise tradition of chanting these stotras. The stotras were initially recorded at our ashram in India, and then carefully prepared and rendered for download by a top audio engineer at his studio in England.
Stotra Yagyas as “Mini Yagyas”

Jaikrishna recently remarked that stotra yagyas are like “mini yagyas” or “on-demand yagyas” and these recitations (chants) can be listened to at any time** for a specific purpose. They are also ideal to listen to in the days before any personal or group yagya that you’ve requested actually starts or if there is an emergent situation that you’d like to gain additional support for.
(** It is important to listen to these stotra yagyas in a “pure and sattvic environment” just as you would when viewing a yagya, and we recommend to not operate any machinery, be eating, or be in an unsettled or uncomfortable environment. Additional details and listening suggestions are provided on the purchase of any stotra yagya.)

- What does it mean to listen to Stotra Yagyas in a “pure” environment?
- We recommend listening to these stotra yagyas in a “pure and sattvic environment” just as you would when viewing a yagya or performing any spiritual practice. Your attention should generally be directed inwards to quieter states of consciousness rather than be outwardly focused. Traditionally they are listened to or chanted in the morning after bathing and in a pure environment light a ghee lamp and listen intently, with attention gently focused on the purpose of the Stotra Yagya. “Pure” also means “not impure” and any environment should not contain impure influences such as unsavory media or drugs or alcohol, for example. We also recommend that these are not listened to while operating any machinery, driving a car, working-out, etc.
- How many pandits perform Stotra Yagyas?
- Traditionally this depends on the Stotra Yagya and can be any number from two to a collection of more pandits, all of whom record these in our yagya ashram.
- How do Stotra Yagyas differ from personal yagyas, group yagyas, or Vedic Calendar yagyas?
- You can think of it in terms of the strength of the influence of the specific yagya or Stotra Yagya. Jaikrishna has likened Stotra Yagyas, “Like a Band-Aid while waiting for surgery.” Stotra Yagyas are on-demand, personal “mini-yagyas”.
- How did you decide on the minimal cost of Stotra Yagyas?
- We’ve always endeavored to make our yagyas and, now, Stotra Yagyas, as affordable as possible. The cost was a fair amount that we hoped anybody could afford and still be able to return a reasonable consideration to our pandits. This is a traditional means to support the pandits, their families, and the ashram in India.
- What do Stotra Yagyas sound like?
