Surya: clarity in uncertain times
Aditya Hridaya Stotram Yagya
Yagya Announcement: Aditya Hridaya Stotram Yagya
Aditya Hridaya Stotram Yagya July 5–July 15, 2026. 7 pandits, 11 days.
The Aditya Hridaya Stotram Yagya is dedicated to Surya, the sun deity and one of the principal deities of the Vedic tradition. The Aditya Hridaya Stotram comes from the Yuddha Kanda of the Valmiki Ramayana, where the sage Agastya teaches it to Rama on the battlefield. The name translates as “the heart of Aditya,” Aditya being a name of Surya as son of the cosmic goddess Aditi.
This yagya is performed to invoke Surya’s blessings for clarity, vitality, and the removal of obstacles. The Aditya Hridaya Stotram was traditionally taught at a moment of exhaustion and impending defeat, making it a practice specifically suited to times when sustained effort is required and the outcome is uncertain.

The text at the heart of this yagya is the Aditya Hridaya Stotram itself, thirty-one verses from the Valmiki Ramayana chanted in full. The stotra names Surya’s forms and qualities across the arc of the day and across all conditions of life. It is traditionally chanted for energy, courage, and the removal of fear.
Traditionally, the yajamana is said to receive increased vitality, mental clarity, and protection from enemies and misfortune. The text promises that one who chants it with devotion will overcome grief, illness, and danger. Those benefits extend to the yajamana’s household as well.
Pandit Jaikrishna has specifically recommended this yagya for the current period. Those familiar with his guidance will understand the significance of that recommendation.
