September 19th, 2026. The Sharda River near our ashram in India has broken its banks, causing terrible flooding. Across Lakhimpur and Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh, entire villages are underwater. Homes, standing crops and roads are gone, and families who had almost nothing have now lost even that. Days into the crisis, official relief still has not reached many of them.
We are raising money to put food and essential supplies directly into the hands of these families. Not through agencies or intermediaries, but hand to hand, by people who live in these villages and know who needs help first. Your gift becomes flour, potatoes and salt on a family’s floor within days. Please give below.

Even $10 donated can provide roughly 36-40 person-days of basic food. In other words, approximately:

- 10 people for about 3–4 days
In the area 35,696 people are caught in the acute disaster reporting area and is nowhere near the total number of people who will experience economic and social consequences from the 2026 flooding.

What is happening
In early September, upstream dams released a huge volume of water into the Sharda, and the river climbed more than 30 centimetres above its danger mark near Palia in Lakhimpur Kheri, where it held for days. Water pushed into low-lying villages across more than twenty districts of Uttar Pradesh, with Lakhimpur Kheri and Sitapur among the worst hit.
People have lost their harvest, their livestock and, in many cases, their homes. Roads and bridges are cut, so reaching markets, clinics and schools has become a daily struggle.
The families in these villages were poor before the water came. A lost paddy crop or a few drowned animals is not an inconvenience to them. It is months of food and income, gone in a single night.
What we are already doing
This is not an appeal from strangers. On September 17, our lead Pandit, Bhaskar Trivedi, went into the flood zone himself and distributed flour, potatoes and salt to more than 600 people across the villages of Ghodsariya, Kaharanpurwa, Pipariya, Khajuria, Pasin Purwa and Janakpur. Villagers told the local press that no government relief had reached them yet. The distribution was reported by the regional newspaper Aaj Sambhale Bharat.

On this occasion, while interacting with the flood victims, he stated, “We stand with you in this hour of disaster and will provide whatever help is possible using our personal resources.” Present on the occasion were Veeru Awasthi, Basant Awasthi, Sushil Trivedi, Sonu Tiwari, Gangaram, Ranu Tiwari, Lalesh Mishra, Gomti Tiwari, along with other local villagers.

Flour, Potatoes, and Salt Distributed to Villagers; Villagers Praise Bhaskar Trivedi’s Effort
Laharpur, Sitapur. In the flood-affected gram panchayats of the Laharpur tehsil area, rising water levels in the Sharda River have escalated the difficulties faced by residents. Floodwaters reaching several villages and hamlets have created a state of panic. Many surrounding villages, including Pipariya, are affected by the floodwaters, leaving residents struggling with commuting, food, and daily necessities.
On Thursday, September 17, 2026, flood relief material was distributed by Bhaskar Trivedi under the Niji Seva Sankalp initiative across flood-hit areas, including the hamlets of Ghodsariya, Kaharanpurwa, Pipariya, Khajuriya, Pasin Purwa, Janakpur, and other affected locations. Flour, potatoes, and salt were provided to needy villagers during the drive.
Villagers mentioned that the flood had already made it difficult to meet daily requirements, so receiving relief material at an individual level provided crucial timely support. Appreciating Bhaskar Trivedi’s initiative, they noted that he understood the hardships of the flood-affected population and took action to support them.
According to the villagers, relief distribution from the administration had not yet reached them. The privately organized relief material satisfied their immediate need for essential food items. They added that receiving support directly during such a crisis gave them strength, making Bhaskar Trivedi’s efforts a major topic of discussion across the area.
Basant Awasthi, Sushil Trivedi, Sonu Tiwari, Gangaram, Ranu Tiwari, Lalesh Mishra, Gomti Tiwari, and a large number of local residents were present during the event. Given the severity of the flood situation, villagers also emphasized the ongoing need to deliver essential food supplies and further necessary assistance to all affected families.
We already have the trucks, the local relationships and the people on the ground. What we need now is the means to do it again, at greater scale, for as long as the water stays.
